Another year…another Summer
Break ……and another Four Seasons song on the charts. Yes we are back and will
pepper the blog with news and articles over the next few months as we celebrate
the best year for UK fans in decades. And we guarantee some musical surprises about the group that
has it’s history ‘mistold’ in Jersey Boys. More on that in the future.
This time last year it was Pilooski’s remix of ‘Beggin’ by Frankie
Valli and The Four Seasons that was belting up the charts………and again this
year Madcon have recorded a version
which stormed to No 5 in the UK
Single charts in August. Wikipedia tells us….”Their newest album, entitled So
Dark The Con Of Man, was released on December 3. In the UK , released on
RCA, the album charted on the UK Albums Chart at #137. The first single from this album, Beggin, has sold 8 times (Norwegian)
platinum, and reached number one on sales charts already in the 1st (Norwegian
iTunes top songs) and second week (VG-lista Topp 20). Beggin is a cover of a song originally performed in 1967 by
The Four Seasons featuring lead vocals by Frankie Valli. Madcon's version of
Beggin is produced by 3Elementz, who also produced the other singles from
"So Dark The Con Of Man".”
And of course the top
French cover of ‘December 63 (Oh, What A Night)/ Ces Soirees La’ by Yannick is featured in
the opening to the world wide hit musical, Jersey Boys. So it is of little
surprise then that our friend, Piet (PEEJAY) in Holland has assembled over 20 years of
Dance Mixes and Covers in 7 Volumes of what must be ‘The Clubbers Guide To The Four Seasons”….. Back in the
90s Russ McClelland pulled together a 3 CD set of the groups best Dance
Mixes…..but another decade finds their catalogue still being sampled.
But for now at least….. this will do us……..until next years
remix that is!!
PEEJAY Volume 1 is reviewed
in our forthcoming Newsletter no 52 and can be seen here. This is the first of
our articles and blog posts related to Newsletter 52 which will be published
soon. We’ll keep you informed via the blog …as we lead up to the First Four
Seasons International Convention in October. Find out more here. Casey
