Counting cyclists in Camberwell Grove

IMG_9557.JPG

We're helping make sense of some planning issues in my local street, Camberwell Grove, in the London Borough of Southwark. The road has been shut to traffic due to a weak bridge for well over a year and, despite problems for car drivers, has become something of a 'green street', popular with cyclists and pedestrians.

We took the chance to measure volumes of cyclists using the street and took photos that may help those examining this issue to design a proper solution, rather than the ill thought out plan that is currently proposed. Which is basically traffic lights.

I'll be writing about this in more detail in future, but for now, for the benefit of my neighbours, here are the essential links. All photos are creative commons, so feel free to reuse provided you credit MDB.

Here are the stats.
