Each year The RIBA hosts a "...by design" programme, choosing a particular theme and then showcasing excellence from within the architecture profession in that area.
This year's theme is "Sustainable living by design" - a very timely topic considering the current debate about climate change and the affect our lives are having on the planet, and something we're particularly interested in right now.
The exhibition runs at the RIBA, in Gallery 2 at 66 Portland Street, London between the 6th November and 2nd December. Opening times are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-5pm. Entrance is free.
It should be well worth a visit, especially as the competition was open to students, which means there'll be a chance to have a look at some more extreme, left-field solutions such as this "Offshore Living" concept by Anthony Lau.
If you're around the area on the 7th November, it would also be well worth trying to catch the 'Annual Discourse', which this year is being given by Sauerbruch Hutton, the intriguing Anglo-German practice responsible for amongst other things, the GSW building in Berlin. Entitled "One or two things we know about Architecture", it takes place in the Jarvis Hall, from 6.30pm. To download a booking form, or for more information, click here
