Two quite different events in London this week, both worth attending if you can.
Firstly, tonight Energy 2.0 - "How the Internet can help tackle climate change" takes place at 3i's offices in Victoria. These guys seem to 'get' what we've been mulling on for the past few weeks - that Climate change is merely a context, not an end in itself. This event intends to examine how the internet can generate consumer uptake of a wide range of 'cleantech' products and services that can help in tackling climate change.
Tonight is intended as a 'planning and brainstorming' event which forms the precursor to a series of events starting in the Autumn. In attendance will be entrepreneurs, investors, NGOs and media organisations. It takes place between 6pm and 8pm - and costs just £20 to attend. Go here to register.
Meanwhile, over in Canary Wharf, what is becoming something of an 'alternative British Motorshow' takes place this week from 11th - 17th June. Started in 1996 'Motorexpo' has gained something of a cult following. For one week in June, the Canary Wharf estate is transformed into an open air motorshow.
There are over 40 exhibitors this year - the highlights include the first chance to see the glorious new Alfa 8C in the UK - and for the first time this year, a 'green zone' showcasing alternative fuel vehicles, including SAAB's 'biopower' biofuel range of cars, and the Vectrix electric Scooter. Corporate greenwashing? Who knows - but the 'Sexy Green Car show' held at Eden earlier in the year was by all accounts much more interesting than the 'EVER' green event I went all the way to Monaco to check out, and London is gaining a reputation for being a world centre for green cars, so watch this space.
Energy 2.0 is hosted by Etribes, at 3i London 16 Palace St, London SW1E 5JD on 11th June 2007 at 6pm, £20. Nearest Tube is St. James' Park / Victoria 'Motorexpo' Canary Wharf is at Canary Wharf from 11th-17th June 2007 and is free. Nearest Tube is Canary Wharf.
