Hot on the heels of our recent ponderings about the future of Tesla Motors, the company has today released a teaser picture of its upcoming Model S (above) - ahead of a full unveil on 26th March at an Elon Musk Space X do... Intriguingly, this comes amidst some confusion about whether Tesla are actually going to get their share of $400M bailout. A couple of websites reported Musk saying they'd got the money, but apparently, he actually said he was simply 'confident' they'd get it, and be able to go ahead as planned with building (on time) the EV sedan you see above. No confirmed money for Tesla (and the Model S) yet then.
But, regardless of all that - what do you think to (what you can see of) the Model S? Shades of Fisker Karma? Stumpy Masserati Quattroporte anyone? Or is it just us that sees McLaren Mercedes SLR in that combination of turbine wheels and squat nose? No, actually, scrub all that. That front looks a little bit recent-Mazda-ish... which is, erm, a coincidence considering where the Model S's designer came from...
Insert gratuitous McMerc SLR picture here...
Let us know what you think - and if you think Tesla can make it as a fully fledged car company, when the 'big' boys appear to be getting more and more serious by the day, about electrifying their own product ranges...
